Final camp fire
Our last evening, with some ball games and the final camp fire to finish the week off.
Our last evening, with some ball games and the final camp fire to finish the week off.
We had a lovely meal at the medieval themed restaurant, with very few objections to eating with our fingers...
Each tent was tasked with the job of writing a song about camp, with varying degrees of success. Who's that daft blogger at the back...?
Due to the dodgy weather forecast, tonight we're off to a local medieval restaurant, which should be a new experience for many of us. If the rain holds off we'll have another camp fire, and then it's off home in the morning. We've had a great time so far, with all the children happy and well.
Our final full day and the weather has been unexpectedly kind as we have enjoyed a fab day at Flambards theme park.
More storytime with Mrs Nicholls reading "The Mousehole Cat", followed by some time sketching. Ten minutes later the heavens opened while we were mid-ice cream and we had to bolt back to the minibuses, but not before quite a thorough soaking. If the rain holds off then we should be able to have more camp fire fun, with hot chocolate, marshmallows and a few songs planned to finish the day. Everyone very happy and hoping the weather will not get in the way of a fun final day at Flambards tomorrow. The wind's getting up...
A more challenging day today with the weather introducing a few complications, but we had an enjoyable and informative trip to Geevor Tin mine between the showers. With lots to learn about mining in the recent and more distant past, the children were attentive and took it all in. Everyone went down the 300 year old Wheal Mexico mine, two groups with former miners as guides. We also all enjoyed Mrs Nicholls reading "Thomas and the Tinners" in an amphitheatre-like entrance to an old adit mine.
To bring a lovely day to a close, we had a camp fire and some toasted marshmallows. Camp at its best.
A bit of down time on the beach. We rounded the trip off with an ice-cream and watching the lifeboat launch on exercises.
While half of the group were in the water, the others walked along the cliff top to Land's End. No helicopter rescues to entertain us this year, but we did get a fly-by from the air ambulance.
The weather brightened as we arrived at Sennen Cove and we have had a fabulous day in the surf. Lots of images to work through...
